I agree. There is a time and place for everything. Music is an artform and like any other artform is subjective and defined by personal taste. Not everyone likes everything and that's okay.

Yeah, it was definitely overdone back in the 80's-90's. I for one was glad to see it mostly go away along with platform shoes and polyester shirts. It still kind of makes me cringe when I hear it.

For me the other issue is that I don't want to change the set-up of my bass. My set-up is super low for speed and articulation and raising it for optimal slapping would sacrifice 99.9% of my playing to get a good slapping sound for fewer than .01% of the notes played.

I used a Keeley for several years and liked it but I am now using an Empress. I like the Empress better because it has metering LED's which make it easier to dial in and it also has a Blend control which I find useful.

I really love 8's! Fell in love with 8's back in the early 90's when I played through an SWR Henry 8x8. I only sold the Henry because it weighed 110 lbs. These days I primarily use a Hartke HD-508 4x8 combo.
