    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Not sure how you arrive at your timeline? The vM5 was introduced at NAMM in January 2012, mine has a body date of 01/12/12 in the neck pocket. I have seen two others from around the same time. From Cary's post (quoted above) it would appear that these three were still the only ones in existence...

    Musicman Sabre Club

Yes, but were these instruments originally sold in the UK or later brought in second-hand from somewhere else? Difficult to say with certainty after all this time, of course. Different scenarios can exist. I have an example though that would support what the chap from Strings & Things told me...

    Musicman Sabre Club

The clear guards were indeed a feature on some instruments during the early EBMM years. Why would a new instrument in those days less likely have a clear guard when it was exported to Europe? Speaking of 1987 Trans Red StingRays... Here's mine: (Although this one was indeed sold in the States...

    Musicman Sabre Club

From my experience, the most likely guard for a Sunburst Sabre from those years would either be white or clear. The 1988/9 I used to own had a clear guard (see pic below). Usually the white guards from those years tend to discolour quite a bit over time - depending on exposure, of course. Could...

    Fender Fullerton Reissue club

... and they're back! After seemingly disappearing overnight several years ago, the Fender Reissue Shop is back. https://fenderreissue.com/ No idea who's behind it but there's some useful info on that site. A lot of it is about Strats and Teles but some specs and features also apply to basses.

What's the oldest Stingray 5 that you've seen?

Oldest one I've seen in the flesh is my 1987 Peach prototype. Body and neck are both stamped September 1987. It has some features that didn't make it into the regular production run: headstock logo, bridge without side anchor bolts, soapbar pickup cover. (Also, although not visible in this...

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Found the above post from Carey from May 2014. Anyone know whether any more of these were built thereafter?

Music Man StingRay Club | PART FIVE

Oil/wax started in about 1993. My 1992 Sunburst StingRay still has the lacquered neck. According to the 1990 catalogue, the neck finish was called "Catalyzed lacquer, velvet". (For the bodies, it was called "Catalyzed lacquer, high gloss".)

    The Nordy Club (Part XIV)

Can the esteemed members of this club please help me out with some info on the Nordy vM5 basses? From what I remember, the vM5 was introduced at NAMM 2012 with two instruments, #0 and #1 - both prototypes, I believe. I have #0. Inca Silver. Did the model actually ever get into production...

Music Man StingRay Club | PART FIVE

It could have something to do with the yellowing of the clear coat. Some Peach instruments seem to look more orange, others more pink. Not the easiest colour to photograph anyway, a bit like Fiesta Red in that respect. I had the necks off on the 1988 SR4 and the 1989 SR5 at the same time a...

Music Man StingRay Club | PART FIVE

Peach was one of the 'Special “Feature” colors' EBMM were offering at the time. It was produced between 1987 and 1989 in very small numbers. I've developed a bit of an obsession with this finish over the years. Back in 2009, I read about it on the EBMM forum where someone mentioned they just...
