You are wrong. D'aquisto routinely used motor oil on all his fretboards and as a luthier for 40 years and 82 guitars under my belt I do as well. Do you have the these type of credentials in order to brand someone as spreading nonsense ?

Use the finest grit automotive compound you can find followed by Collinite insulator wax on body and neck. Remove the strings and apply motor oil to the fretboard with a toothbrush and let it sit for a few minutes then wipe off. You may have to repeat but this is the least invasive way to treat...
