People at the Conservatoire are great teachers, but instruments and maintenance are not that good. Instruments are never really setup unless they fall to pieces. But I have a great double bass luthier around the corner there so...

good question ! It certainly does from my standpoint when playing, less so in front but still not quite as punchy as I would. May be the action is set too low, it's an adjustable bridge so I'll give it a try (and if it does not work, I'll pay a visit to the luthier...)

Thanks for feedback. It certainly needs a luthier checkup - soundpost may have moved too... You mentioned and interesting point : it does sound when bowed so it may have something to do with my technique too
