basses you sold that didn't give you sellers remorse

Me too. I got one as a gift. It was horribly finished. No attention to detail. The fret ends shredded my hands, and the neck was truly awful, as though it were crafted by a seventh grader in woodshop class. I won't sell it because it was a gift from my father. Instead, it will molder in its case...

    Portable and clean

I believe that the Mesa Walkabout was designed for those discriminating players who don't have kids in college. :hmm:

Almost all the gigs I play these days send the bass through the front of house. And the band I play in has a horn player (alto, flute, clarinet) a 12-string guitar player, a conga player and me, so the music is subtle and not bombastic. It's on the jazz side but with a lot of three-part harmony...

Mating an old J Bass neck to a new body

Re returns: I took a needle file to the nasty fret ends, so it ain't brand-new anymore (though it plays better now than it did). Does this void my warranty? The bass was given to me as a gift and came from GC. I would never have bought this POS had I played it, but has trying to make it playable...

I'm sure this question has been beat to death, and I apologize upfront for the redundancy. I'm not sure how to search through old posts, and I have an old man's aversion to learning how. I was hoping someone could recommend an amp that is light (sub 50lbs) but is articulate and capable of...

    Ain't THAT the truth.

Did anyone here buy this Ransom bass on eBay?

Hard to tell if those are pits or birdseyes on the fretboard. Looks like a hell of a bass nonetheless. Good deal for somebody, I'm sure. Good to know those still happen on eBay.

Mating an old J Bass neck to a new body

I recently acquired a Fender MIM Jazz Bass Deluxe to replace the Jazz Bass Plus I bought new in 1990. The Plus has been experiencing some godawful racket when plugged in-- it sounds a little like the scene in Blazing Saddles when they're all sitting around the campfire eating beans. I despise...

    MIM Jazz fret edges

Hi all. Longtime listener, first-time caller. I just received a Fender MIM Jazz bass as a gift. I usually play a 1990 Jazz Plus, and this new bass is taking some getting used to. The biggest problem is that the fret edges are like little knives -- after about 10 minutes of playing, the pad of my...
