If I'm above the 5th fret, and I can play it without it getting boomy or flabby, I'll use the 5th string. If I need a pedal tone for a measure or two (E down to C#), I'll use the first position, and play it with my thumb to have it gradually swell. For some reason, that works well on my system...

How does your stacked 2x10 array compare to the typical 4x10? I have always felt columns were the way to go, and even dreamed up a way to convert easily from a 4x10 to 2 2x10 in a column set up. Just never got the bux to buy the materials and make it happen. Let me know at your convenience...
