Thanks for the insight everyone, I feel like I’m also leaning towards Aquila 22s and (varnished) gamut on top. For those of you that settled on this setup, what gauges of G/D did you land on to get a nice even tension?

Let me also add that I live in a humid environment (SF Bay Area) and play outside sometimes.

Question for y’all Currently playing Spiro lights. What would be the best weight/tension match in gamut gut strings if I wanted to get a gut G/D to play over a Spiro light A/E. Bass is a ‘55 C-1 Kay. Playing all pizz, Old time/square dance stuff only. Thanks!
