Class D amps vs traditional amps

I don't know if Miketron75 is even able to see this thread anymore, but in case he is, or reactivates with another account name like "UselessReply75" or something... I think the info you unintentionally got from this thread is much more valuable than an amp review. You need to work on your...

A little fret buzz is... good?

I totally agree. I think if you can get it where it's not always there, only when you dig in, it's great. Sounds like you've got it in the perfect sweet spot. I love this description: "pure butt". Not "sounds like crap" or just "butt". No, the tone is pure butt.

GoGo's - We Got the Beat - Not in a real key?! Am I crazy?

I heard a talk show host telling a story (after he left music radio) that they would play songs a small percentage faster so that it 'felt' more energetic than when people listened on the other stations.

    Have a stage-side preference?

So it "reduces the chances" but still leaves the option available to you if he needs to get whacked?:)

    Have a stage-side preference?

Ditto this. I can hear and see the drummers hands and feet from this spot. On one of my gigs the drummer plays an electronic kit that I can't always hear well

Top 5 Reasons I (mostly) only buy used Basses

I agree with lots of these posts...in addition to some of the previously stated reasons in favor of buying used, I'll add: 1. You can find some great value in the upgrades. All 3 of my main bases are used, including a passive American fender jazz I just got yesterday for $900... but the thing...

    Ampeg Portabass

Greetings...i'm reviving this thread with a quick question or 2: I just picked up a new Ampeg PF350 amp and 210AV cab, fully prepared to love it. And while at the store tried the amp out on a used ampeg PB210h....and it sounded kinda awesome--as good as, possibly better than?--the 210AV...

    Ampeg

Reviving this thread with a quick question: I just picked up my new PF350 amp to go with my 210AV and while at the store tried the amp out on a used ampeg pb210h....and it sounded kinda awesome--as good as, possibly better than?--the 210AV (although the 210AV is brand new and not broken in any)...

Ampeg PF 350 + Ampeg SVT 210 AV live

Excellent, thanks yall! My main band is just vox, bass, 1 guitar and a nice v-drum kit, so i definitely don't need to be super loud. This thing will be replacing a 2010-era GK MB115 which seems to be on it's last legs, and at 200 watts has been plenty for me. Now just planning to see if i can...

Ampeg PF 350 + Ampeg SVT 210 AV live

Thanks JimmyM...reading through a couple of these threads it sounds like you're the go-to expert on this rig for awhile now, so i definitely trust your input. Oh also, how many watts is the PF350 at 8 ohms if i'm only using one 210AV cab? My setup would be an MXR M80 DI that's also a little...

Ampeg PF 350 + Ampeg SVT 210 AV live

Looks great! Do you think that amp with just one 210AV would carry a small/medium sized gig with some PA support? I need it for more than just my stage monitor but it doesn't need to completely carry the room...kinda sharing the load with a moderate PA. Thanks!

Making an active MIM jazz passive?

I have an electronics question for the big brains here...I'll try to ask this in a sensible way. My bass situation is: 1 active USA fender jazz, 1 active MIM fender jazz, 1 passive squier VM 5 string. I'd like to have my bases covered (forgive the pun) so i can have an active 4 string, a...

Babicz Full Contact Hardware Bridge review

True enough! Yeah i'm not trying to get it a millimeter off the fretboard, but probably a little lower than average...(although what's 'average'?? I've played some basses where it seemed like you could almost fit a pencil under the strings.) Thanks though, that does help! -mark

Babicz Full Contact Hardware Bridge review

I have a MIM jazz, and i'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a Babicz, because i love the locking tweakability (i may have just invented that phrase) of it, i like the look, and reviews sound impressive. Plus it's a direct replacement. But i'm open to other options...some swear by Gotoh...
