I totally agree. I think if you can get it where it's not always there, only when you dig in, it's great. Sounds like you've got it in the perfect sweet spot. I love this description: "pure butt". Not "sounds like crap" or just "butt". No, the tone is pure butt.

True enough! Yeah i'm not trying to get it a millimeter off the fretboard, but probably a little lower than average...(although what's 'average'?? I've played some basses where it seemed like you could almost fit a pencil under the strings.) Thanks though, that does help! -mark
