Recommend me some heavy gauge flatwound strings

I'll probably go with the Rotos, unless we decide to make it a 35".

Recommend me some heavy gauge flatwound strings

Interesting. The Rotosounds might be worth a try, since high tension is kind of what I'm looking for here. My friend who the bass is for likes the sound of P basses and wants to get close to the sound and feel of those, except that this will be a fretless 5 string tuned a step down. I know a...

Recommend me some heavy gauge flatwound strings

Who makes good sounding flatwound strings in heavier than normal gauges? I wanted to go with Thomastik Infeld but the bass (5 string fretless) will be tuned a whole step down and I suspect the low strings might be flabby with this tuning. If not, please correct me. I want some quality flats...

Fretless 5 string tuned a whole step down, scale? strings? recommend me

Hi, I will be building a bass for a gentleman who wants a fretless 5 string and plays a whole step down. Originally, I had put together a basic plan for a 34" scale to be strung with Thomastik Infeld flatwounds, but that was before he told me he plays a whole step down. Now I'm worried that the...

Tailpiece for Acoustic electric bass guitar?

Try it. Might wanna make it a floating bridge though cause the tension change might necessitate an intonation adjustment.

Need a supplier for Boire rosewood.

That's great! I was skeptical when you said you wanted to build because someone told you you couldn't afford a luthier. Tools parts and wood would come pretty close I would estimate. My first guitar played like a dream. Having direction helps. And yeah lets see it.

    Dallas Luthier Fret Slotting

Yeah I have talked to them and sounds like they will do it for me. If a local luthier can do it I'd love to pay them for it. If not, it's going to California.

    Dallas Luthier Fret Slotting

Anybody in or near Dallas TX that can slot 29 frets in a board for 34" scale? Also needs to be thickness sanded. If you can, I also have a board that needs 24 slots at 27.5" scale. I don't have the big machines and only have a hand fret saw. Last time I cut that many frets by hand my thumb...

I guess the price is right though, it was fairly cheap. Glad I didn't pay 3 times more for the gold ones.
