Best two comps to date are, "Stanley Clarke ain't got nothing on you" and "you play like Anthony Levine". Btw these comps were from musicians too! This goes to show how some people perceive others, people comp my performance on almost evry gig I'm on, and to this day I still don't get it. I am...

players who are ashamed of having "entry level" brand instruments...

Used a Yamaha bb415 for years ..plug in and play kind of bass, ran it through two Eden d212xlt cabs..yes many compliments on the sound..great action too. B string wasn't flabby..just an all round nice bass for under 300 bucks.

    Fender Bassman 250/115?

I have one which I use for rehearsals, it is just a great little combo, very loud comparatively speaking and it offers a wide variety of good tones, I give it a 10.

The most important skill a bass player must posses.

listen, learn, repeat, repeat repeat, you get the pic, be yourself, accept you for who you are, humility goes faaaaaar, always does, believe in yourself and what your job is......then play the living daylights out of your guitar.
