    New Ibanez Mode series

I dropped my MDM1006 at my local luthier and we both agreed that the B string nut slot needed to be cut down quite a bit. The other slots were spot on. Everything else about the setup was easy peasy. As others have said, the fretwork is great. This bass loves to growl when I dig in. I get a...

    New Ibanez Mode series

I'm usually only lurking around here, but I figured I'd chime in with my new MDM1306. I picked up a Squire 6 string last year as my first 6 string AND my first Jazz ($350 brand new!), and it turns out that I love it. I've spent the last 20 years of bedroom noodling trying to make my humbucker...

    Tobias Bass Identification Help

I sold a 1997 Nashville Gibson “Tobias” Growler on Reverb a few years back for $600. I was amazed it commanded that much. It looked and sounded super cool but the neck was a twisted mess full of dead spots. I replaced it with a TRBX604 which was superior in every way and cost less than what I...

Need advice on Ibanez EHB 1005SMS + shoulder injury

I have my grey EHB1005SMS strung with EADGC Hi-Beams. Works great. Nut was fine, just needed a tweak on the truss rod.

Suggestions for some 36" scale stainless strings

DR sells the Hi-Beams in “XL Scale”. I use them on my 37” scale Ibanez that is too long for normal “Long Scale” DR strings. They’re hard to come by, but Fretnation sells them. I tried the Dingwall stainless steel strings, and they fit great on my 37", but felt like sandpaper.

I bought the new Ibanez BTB805MS w/ Ibanez T1 PUPs

Just checked mine. Out of the box, with the bass sitting in playing position, 4mm from the un-pressed B string to the neck pickup & 3mm for the bridge pickup.

I bought the new Ibanez BTB805MS w/ Ibanez T1 PUPs

LOL. Thanks. I don't think I would have ever made the connection that it's for the case and not the bass. :D

I bought the new Ibanez BTB805MS w/ Ibanez T1 PUPs

After strictly playing an EHB1005SMS (the short scale one) since last winter (and modifying it in the summer with Aguilar pickups and preamp), my BTB805MS from Sweetwater arrived yesterday. I tried to line them up in this pic to give you an idea of the size difference. She's a BEAST! I...

Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club

Not appreciably. Going to the DCB's was an obvious sound improvement. IMHO, going to the OBP-3 gave improvements around flexibility and noise (And frankly, this could be attributed to the copper shielding I did), but not articulation and clarity like the DCBs.

Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club

Behold.. the uber SMS! Just finished installing an Aguilar OBP-3, prewired from fatbasstone.com, to go with the Aguilar DCBs. I went with the 4 knob + 1 switch (Vol-Blend-Treb/Bass Stk-MidPP-APsw) setup. I originally intended to install a John East Preamp, but it was just a bit too bulky to...

Worst bass setup f-ups / Confessions of the technically challenged players

My GF and I both love watching Dave. She says I’m grumpy/surly the same way he is. I take that as a compliment.

The 1005SMS only has a 32” scale at the B. While it’s not terrible, imho, it’s getting close to the limits of being acceptable in terms of floppiness. The 1005MS has a 35” scale at the B. It would work much better with drop tunings, especially lower than B.

I think that was me. Chords and arpeggios have much better definition with the Aggies on my EHB1005SMS. Especially higher up the neck on the D & G strings.

How good are you??? WHO IS THE BEST IN TALKGBASS?

I picked the bass back up last year after a 20 year hiatus. I was looking for a winter hobby after moving to the PNW where it’s wet and dark November through June. I bought a huge pile of books from Amazon and am slowly working through them. When I finish them all, I will elevate my skill...

Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club

In my defense, I’ve never mucked with a bass before and I don’t intend to ever again. Using this bass to get those curiosities out of my system. It was definitely perfectly fine stock.
