Hipshot Ultralites are a drop-in fit. You only use the single screw nearest to the nut, though.

I have a Xaviere vintage J I'd put against any Mexican Fender, and I got it on sale for $199. Hell, I might put it against a US Fender. Like someone said above, the Slicks are supposed to be a bit nicer, so I wouldn't hesitate. As soon as the white model is back in stock, I'm grabbing one.

Yup, I have a Wolf fiver (see profile pic) and it holds its own against basses three times the price. The Wolf outplayed my Warrior to the point that I sold the latter. The Woodo, unfortunately, was a different story. Clearly the same manufacturer, but terrible bridge choice. Unfortunately...

Rekindling this thread. Arttu was wonderful to work with, but the bass' design was extremely lacking. While the pups sounded great, but the action would get no lower than 7-9mm. We're at a point in bassdom where such a thing is unacceptable. Since Jaco, Vic, and Billy have been playing lead...

I only kept my Messenger for 3-4 months. For the price I paid, the attention to detail was absolutely lacking...if not non-existent.

Yeah, I get that. The bass I had definitely had something special in the 250 lower-mids as well.

Very interesting. I was thinking Status used the Roswell pups, but their own preamps. I've definitely played a Washburn with Roswell pups and it sounded good. Very "flat" and uncolored, which is what I personally prefer. I like my amp to do most of the work from an eq perspective.

Reviving this thread in case anyone cases. WSC is now Roswell. It seems Status Graphite uses these pups, so they're plenty good enough for me. https://roswellpickups.com/
