I don't think there's any conversion necessary. Just plug the XLR cables into one another and start reeling them in. I haven't done it myself, but I don't think there's anything special needed.

Maybe you could buy a few 1/4" female to 1/4" female adapters for the sole purpose of connecting the leads together to reel them up. Pretty cheap at monoprice: Invalid Link Removed
