Is the line 6 relay g50 any good?

Just received my G50 as well, and it's great. Ordered though Amazon, and also got the following items, thanks to all of your recommendations.

- Shure WA304 - TA4F to 1/4" 90 Angle cable
- Levy's Leathers Wireless Receiver Holder For Guitar,Black
- eneloop 2000mAh Typical 1500 cycle, 4 Pack AA, Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries with 4 Position Charger

Thanks everyone for all you help. One more thing. What are you guy's using to transport, and store it in? Hate to throw everything loose, into my gig bag.

I keep my wireless receiver and body pack in one of those metal briefcases you find at hardware stores - the ones that have the foam inside perforated into rectangular columns. Works perfectly and is pretty inexpensive.

I bought one which allowed me to make the spaces myself, not the already formed units. Very similar to this, just more of a DIY type thing. I think I paid $60 for it and it's still kicking butt.

I purchased the same SKB case for my G50 system It works like a champ!

here's how i use my G50:

the pedaltrain nano is just big enough for the reciever and a AA recharger, and it, the beltpack, batteries and cables all just fit in the bag, and all for like $50. it sits on top of whatever amp i'm using at the moment.

i had to get a little creative with wiring it up, using AC cable connectors from the hardware store:

I have a G30 and I've used a G50 I wouldn't use anything else. Super easy operation, no dropouts, doesn't alter your tone. Had the G30 on the road for a year now and no hassles at all. I use rechargeables and always have another set plus a cable nearby just in case.

Only problem if you can call it that is the clip broke off the transmitter so I just got a strap case for like $12 and I like that better anyway!

I am ready to buy one of these units finally. I was going to start a thread asking which one, but I did a search and this one is close enough. A few questions if I may?

Is the difference between the G30 and the G50 worth the extra $100?

Have they really fixed the issue with the jacks that I have heard you all talk about?

Which cable would you guys recommend to replace the one that comes with the unit?

What is a source for a good, cheap, bag to attach the transmitter to my strap?

Assuming I get the G50 ( and I don't know if this even makes a difference), where do I place this unit with respect to my pedal board? I have room to physically place the unit on my board, which I would prefer, but what I mean is relative to the other pedals ( First, last, etc.) Stupid question I know, but I have never used a wireless so...

Don't know, use the G30 for well over a year now . . . no issues
No bag, it attaches to your strap, belt, or pants pocket . . . it has a clip to do that . . .
Anywhere you like . . . mine is on top of my amp . . . pedal board is nice . . .

think about it a little: the output of the receiver unit is the output of your instrument; where in the signal chain does your bass go?

The G50 unit is made of metal on both the pack unit and the receiver. I also wanted the antennas and I wanted the display screen on the pack. So I felt it was worth the $ difference.

I have mine placed first in my pedals. Regular batteries last a long time. I can use one set of batteries for five 2-1/2 hour rehersals.

GC sells a pouch specific for strap mounting if you want the extra protection. The clip works but will eventually chew up the strap if you continuously take it on and off like I need to.

For me, the G50 was not necessary over the G30. I also like that the G30 uses a standard 1/4" to connect to the transmitter rather than the TA4F. No regrets going with the G30 and ZERO issues whatsoever (I think I've had it for about two years now).

The Shure WA302 cable should be a decent replacement. I've used them in the past.
