The death has been reported today of Gene Bertoncini, a prominent jazz guitar player who changed his style after hearing the classical virtuoso Julian Bream.

Gene Bertoncini played Sunday and Monday nights at Bistro La Madeleine on West 43rd Street, NY.

A member of the Tonight Show band he also worked with Burt Bacharach, Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Michel Legrand and bassist Michael Moore.
