I think the 5kHz roll-off likely has a lot to do with using a looper as the sound source. A lot of loopers have pretty aggressive LPF to filter out any aliasing. Zak's graphs (EQs set to noon) accurately represent what we see on our fancy spectrum analyzer. I'll post them again here for clarity:

Absolutely. This is one of the main purposes of the Empress ParaEq pedals, to identify and get rid of specific unwanted frequencies. I would set the Q to thin on either the low or mid EQ band, set the gain fully clockwise, and then turn the Frequency control until you find that squealing...

The block diagram goes as follows: HPF > EQ bands > low shelf / high shelf (they are in parallel) > LPF > Boost. There is not yet a Filter Cutoff Frequencies chart for the Bass ParaEq, I'll ask our engineers to generate one.

The general rule is that the output impedance should be at least 10 times lower than the input impedance of what you're driving, so as long as what you're driving has a high input impedance, the difference between 100Ω and 600Ω will be negligible. Most non-mic preamps have anywhere between 10kΩ...

The output impedance of most contemporary guitar pedals is low. The Bass ParaEq output impedance is 100Ω, and (for example) the Radial JDI output impedance is 150Ω.

In a way, it does have a DI out. It can send out a balanced output which you could send to a mixing desk, PA, etc. The only caveat is that the balanced signal is not attenuated to mic level (~ -60 dBV). It remains at instrument level (~ -25 dBV). So if you are sending the output to a mic preamp...
