    Bass Opinions

I don't have a 6-string but I have a 5-string ESP Ltd B-55 and I love it. If their other basses are of similar quality, definitely not a bad bass for the money.

I must be prejudiced against people who play short-scale basses

I had a Squire Short-scale Bronco Bass with EMG pickups and never got the kind of tone he has. Although I never tried the pressurewounds... Let me know how those workout for you!

Reggae/Dub Tone Test - Hofner vs. P vs. J (with clips)

I've been listening to a lot of Reggae lately and personally I think the J sounds the best. They have a brighter tone over all and have a more distinct attack on the notes. With all the walking and movement of basslines in Reggae, I'd personally stick to the J if that's the main genre you'd be...

I must be prejudiced against people who play short-scale basses

Personally, my first bass was a 28" Squire. That thing was perfect for travelling and playing. Never mind living in a dorm at the time it made it slightly easier to pack in to the room. Plus playing on a cramped stage, it can make a huge difference in between playing bass and playing bass and...

    Chipped headstock on new bass

I had an Ibanez electric guitar that the strap broke and took a chip out of when it hit the floor. If it's on the wood surface and not the painted/finished side, you may can find a filler that is similarly colored to fill in. I used a product called Plastic Wood to fix mine, actually used it...

Has anyone here abandoned their 5 string basses totally for 4 strings?

I recently acquired a 5-string and had only played 4's up until about 5 months ago. Since I've got the extra real estate, I'm loving it. I have smaller hands so being able to use the 5th string for runs/jumps makes it much easier on me. The only downside to having the low B is if you're...

    Restoring an Epiphone ET-285

Hello everyone, just joined the forums here hoping to gain some knowledge. Just wondering if anyone had knew of some pickups that would fit an Epiphone ET-285. Picked one up some years ago in a pawn shop for about $80.00, finish was extremely bad so I've been in the process of restoring it...
