Thanks for the insight! I like the aggressive, modern sounds that stainless gives. It will actually be hard for me to move away from the Flex Steels. But, like I said, I like to move around the tonal spectrum and have no qualms trying something off the wall for a while. Too bad bass strings...

It's a really cool instrument. The only issue I have with it is that I have to get super long scale strings if I want to utilize the string-thru-body feature. I put a set of extra long scale D'Addario Flex Steels on it and found that the low B and E strings crossed the nut a bit short...the...

Well, I'm happy to report that Warmoth fixed the neck and there is no buzzing at all!! Woo-hoo. Plays like a dream now.

Just got the neck back. Will install it later this week and see. Fingers crossed... Per Spike, the neck was within spec upon inspection. However, as a precaution, they re-seated the upper 7 frets.

I have sent the neck back to Warmoth for "warranty inspection". Hopefully they'll find the flaw and correct it.

Gut shot...that's a good way to put it. I've emailed them and they've responded. I'm to take the guitar apart and return the neck to them for inspection. They're going to test it to see if it is "outside of spec", then we'll go from there. If it is "out of spec", then they'll repair/replace...

The body is Mahogany core with Walnut laminate top...if you were asking me, that is.

I've got the guitar completely built and wired. It's awesome! But I have a problem... I have two frets (the 20th and 22nd) that are way out of whack. They buzz badly, even though there's no buzz anywhere else on the neck. And it's not just a buzz...the notes don't even really play at all...

Finished the tung oil application to the body! Also installed a 1/4" hole into the control cavity for the mini toggle switch. Although I'm a relative newbie to finishing, I thought it turned out pretty good.

My Gecko body and neck arrived yesterday!! WooHoo!! I am SOOOO glad that I waited on the wenge to become available. It's some gorgeous wood. I'm thinking now that I might would have liked a wenge laminate top instead of the walnut I ordered. I'm using Sutherland Welles polymerized tung oil...

Nordy Pickups came in a few days ago!! Body and neck should be in later this week!

I spoke to Spike at Warmoth who told me that they discontinued offering the cases a few years back. The cases ate up a lot of space at the shop, which didn't make sense since they only sold 10-12 a year, and shipping costs on the cases were very high. Makes sense I guess.

Warmoth did a good job with the choice of wood for the gecko inlay. Really matches the rest of the fretboard nicely.
