Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

I picked up a new BB424x in black the other day and am loving it so far. It replaced my G&L ASAT, interestingly enough. I bought a G&L SB-2 as a backup to my ASAT, but loved the sound and feel of the SB-2 so much (PJ & passive), I just wasn't playing the ASAT anymore. I've always loved the look...

    Carvin BX500: Pt. 3

When I first got the Cyclops, DJ, I think my expectations were way too high. When I was first dialing it in and everything, I was actually kind of crestfallen because of the lack of oomph that it had (and also how ineffectual the 12AX7 was). I don't know if it was the cabinet itself (you can...

    Carvin BX500: Pt. 3

Oh, most definitely. I have a G&L ASAT, and that thing's pretty hot, even when in passive mode.

    Carvin BX500: Pt. 3

I like what I'm hearing. 1000 watts from the Hartke is nice, but I've been kind of dubious that it's actually giving me even 750 watts at 8 ohms, because the volume's better than halfway up with the EQ flat most times.

    Carvin BX500: Pt. 3

Hi there. I'm currently running a Hartke LH1000, for 2 different bands. One band has me using an 8-ohm Bassman 410 (slanted), and the other an 8-ohm Avatar 212. Now, I only ever use one cabinet at a time, and have searched to see if any of you guys are running the BX500 with just an 8-ohm...

Short scale strings for 8 string bass (octave).

I bought the GHS medium scale. Be forewarned that the gauge is significantly heavier than stock, and that the octave strings' ends will not fit into the ferrules on the back of the body (they'll stick out). However, the string length is no problem at all.

    Hagstrom 8 string bass re-issue?

I have one, in cherry. I ordered it July of '09 and finally received it March of '10. I decided to buy one because a dealer rep friend of mine let me borrow his demo to check out (it was white), and it blew me away with its fit and finish, versatility, and even the intonation was great. Plus, I...

    Yet another MM Stingray thread!

I had a Stingray, a new one in 2001. It was translucent orange with a matching headstock, and that beautiful quilted maple neck. Solid as a rock and the fit and finish were amazing. I found it be a one trick pony, however. I loved that punchy, springy midrange, but try as I might, I couldn't get...

    Vantage basses?

Heh. I just bought that bass last night, Craig630. It's in great shape but in dire need of a setup. Right now the action is not unlike that of a cheeses slicer. But it's true, i got two sets of Elixirs with it, so I essentially paid $5 for the bass. I tried it briefly at practice last night and...
