Adding the 12v tranny did help the small switching supply and it runs cooler now (I.E. it does not go into shutdown)

Tweety, check the preamp out jack by sending it to the main mix or another power amp to see if you have signal. Chances are that little power supply for the preamp section is overheating and shutting down.

I tried swapping out that ICE chip a couple years ago with the larger one only to find it heat up and shut down also. Quick fix was to place one of those copper heatsinks on it, the kind you use on memory chips with the sticky stuff on it. The chip still runs rather warm but does not go into...
