It's possible that my pedals are the real problem. I've turned on the noise gate in the Cab M, with the absolute minimum setting and it seems to resolve hum that I have here just using an active speaker. I'll try that tomorrow, but also will bring my backup preamp.

Interesting, thank you. But how to troubleshoot? All the plugs are power strips and extension cables, with the ground pin (round French plugs). However, two of my pedals are only 2 prongs (old Carl Martin pedals) and could be plugged in either way. Could that maybe be the issue you are talking...

I agree with you... it's a hard choice. I thought it through and went with the Delano stacked humbuckers and Mayones own preamp. I love the sound!!! Very thick and round on the neck, bright and punchy on the bridge.

So, for a good "amp in the room" feel, based on whatever blocks and amp models you use, would people generally think a good amplified "FRFR" bass cabinet would be best? Like a GR or Barefaced?

Ever since I got my Mayones Patriot, I hardly ever touch my other basses. Still, I take the Jazz bass out when there is a risk of rain or harsh conditions, as I know it is robust enough for that.

My teacher was very clear about this: you can get equipment or instruments if and whenever you want, but that's really not going to make you a better (more knowledgeable) player. Spend your time studying and practicing music!!

My band will also cancel rehearsal if I can't be there. The drummer won't even play with the bass being present, not even with guitar and piano doing their job.
