    125 Watt Head + 300 Watt Cab

Is it okay to run my 125 watt head (4 or 8 ohms) with a 200 watt RMS 600 watt peak 8 ohms cab or will I run into issues?

    Cab or PA speakers?

Not very large. My friend plays bass with a 200 watt combo 2x10 in the same size rooms with no problem. And the genre I'd be playing would be more of a metal, or hard rock style.

    Cab or PA speakers?

So I would be much better off getting an actual bass cab? I could get the two speakers for cheaper than even a 1x15, but if they're no good for bass I'll spend the extra dough on an actual cab.

    Cab or PA speakers?

My friend is selling a pair of these: Long & McQuade - Yorkville Sound YX10 150 Watt 10+1-inch Passive PA Speaker for quite cheap. I have an old acoustic 136 head, 125 watts RMS 4 ohms, so two of those would pair up nicely with it, but I'm wondering if it would even work. Would it...

    Washburn Explorer?

Chunky P style-ish neck, rosewood fingerboard, the inlays were spiders for the first 4 or 5, headstock was black as well as the body and knobs, jack was on the side, anybody have any ideas?

    Washburn Explorer?

I was at a pawn shop and I saw an explorer that was by washburn, four strings, looked fairly old, three knobs, two J looking pickups, and 24 frets(I think). It was 300 bucks. Does anyone have any info on it? Good bass/worth it?

    Randall RB 125

I just bought this really old rb 125, and I have a few questions. I can't find a manual for it, and the letters around the power switch are mostly worn away, the middle position is off, then there is an up and down position. At first I thought they said AC and DC, but they both look like they...

    Dead note?

On my fairly new squier deluxe 5 string j bass I've noticed on the 5th fret of the G string it has very little sustain. All the other strings and frets are fine, even any other string on the 5th fret, it's just that one spot that has little sustain. The strings on it are the factory ones, and...

New bass, or shine up the old one?

So currently I have an old yamaha BB200 (made in 1980 I believe) and it works fine. I have $150 in store credit at a music store. I can't decided between a) pitching in some extra money and buying a new bass, which would be the ibanez GSR100, or b) buying new tuners (lighter ones which will...

    Mystery amp?

My friend's friend is selling his bass amp, all I know is that it's 100 watts, combo, somewhere around 20 years old, and approximately 3.5 feet tall. He's asking $125. I will be going to take a look at it, and I'm wondering if old amps should generally be avoided or anything, currently I'm using...

    Adjusting straps?

I couldn't see anywhere this could fit, so I figured I'd post it here. I have a yamaha bb200, p-bass style, and I'm wondering how the strap should be adjusted while sitting down? I can't seem to find a comfortable position, either my right hand is holding the body, inhibiting full movement of my...

Starting with three or two finger technique?

I can't see myself ever using a pick, not saying I won't try it, just saying I can't see myself using it in any seriousness. If I learn three finger, I could do everything I could do with two finger, because the only difference would be the order in which I use my fingers. From what I've read...

Starting with three or two finger technique?

I'm going to be teaching myself bass, and I was wondering if I should start off with two or three finger right hand technique? I listen to technical death metal, and progressive metal, both of which require speed, and eventually I'll want to cover some of that; should I start on two finger and...
