Oh, regardless of your pickup/preamp preferences, you’re #62!

That is a beautiful, understated Gould. I understand the desire to mod the pickups/pereamp, and of course, that’s your call. I just have to tell you that graphite and EMGs are magic. I cannot explain it and I doubt even Geoff could. I’m not an EMG guy, but my G.GI5 is my go-to bass for every...

Ok, so I’ve been absent for a few months (work ********, that has resolved with me triumphant). Anyone who wants a member number, I’ll review the past couple pages and be in touch. I just wanted to check in with a major milestone - currently on reverb there are 29 modulus basses for sale. All...

Ok, so I’ve owned my share of “cork sniffer” basses. My main bass for years was a pedulla mvp 4, backed up by a German Warwick thumb bass 6, as needed. I still own a Gould GGi5 that kills. The thing about CT’s, aside from the amazing woodwork/beauty, is the neck angle. I would happily play a...

So, first I feel like I should say that every owner on this thread has a problem (myself included). We should all seek professional help. My wife recently asked me how many Carl Thompson’s can one man own without it being an addiction. Like an addict, I said: “well, Les has seven, so I’m ok”……

When I first received my GGi5, I was playing at my church the next week. I was a bit nervous about bringing a new bass, so on a whim, I emailed Geoff. What an amazing, thoughtful and talented man. He responded quickly with his pointers/ settings that he uses in his home church. No magic —...

    Audere Audio closed!

Good news, for me, amidst this tragedy. My preamp arrived and is now installed in my Carl Thompson - pairing two American bass geniuses seemed like the thing to do when the original setup started acting squirrely. With the mod, it handles the emgs beautifully and, if anything, provides too much...

    Audere Audio closed!

Whooohooo! Shipping confirmed! To be clear - I am truly saddened by this closure and my heart goes out to all of the independent, quality-minded, makers of wonderful products affected by our current economic climate. That being said, I am personally (and selfishly) much happier than I was on...

    Audere Audio closed!

I ordered my first (last?) Audere preamp at 8:17pm on August 17, 2025. I’ve used Barts and EMG pre’s in the past but I wanted something different. Obviously, I had no clue this was coming - they’ve been a staple in the bass community forever. Now I just hope I don’t get the refund email….

Iriegnome, I love the shirt almost as much as the bass! I got the same one in green. You’re in Kenosha - not too far from me, when’s your next show? -G

That’s kind of what I figured. I’ve got a good gator pro go that came with my g.gould (almost on par with the CT if you like graphite). My luck for carryon flights is about 80/20, but with the Gould, I never stressed too much (thick finish and graphite). I might have to go Calton for piece of...

Greetings CT Club! Proud new owner here (36” scale, 5 string, whale tail). I did have one question about cases. Just wondering what kind of case/bag you folks use for gigs. Mostly local, some flying. I’m not taking her out anywhere without some significant protection.

Thanks Geoff! Yeah, the metal ones are not much different from the standard EMGs, but the big synth knob/plate on the blender makes it really easy to see and adjust on the fly.
