Here is my new 8 string CT! 6-24-94!
I turned 13 when this was built just a few days prior!

It's 34" scale...the high strings are octaves, but I've been experimenting with down tuning. Just a ton of fun!

So few of these have been built.
I'm thinking about a half dozen.
Just a beautiful bass...but the tone is what really speaks to me.
The EMG singles sound huge!

Surgery day! Finally had more than 36-48 consecutive hours off. Didn't get pics of the drill action but… it's drilling wood… I'm sure it's easily imagined.

Little soap-bar lube lovin for the new screws Joe recommended.

Seems like he does it on the back more often than not these days. I picked this one up second hand so it wasn't a choice for me haha. But honestly I kinda dig it. I used to think the front plate style looked really goofy but it's certainly grown on me over the years and I think I prefer the look on certain body styles Carl makes.

Is Carl moving? Just saw on Instagram (which I rarely frequent anymore) from colewillzslaps a cleared out shop. Still playing the waiting game to hear from Carl and I try not to bug him, so I wasn't sure what's up.

Greetings CT Club!
Proud new owner here (36" scale, 5 string, whale tail). I did have one question about cases. Just wondering what kind of case/bag you folks use for gigs. Mostly local, some flying. I'm not taking her out anywhere without some significant protection.

Congratulations and welcome to the club!
Personally I wouldn't fly with it unless it was in my possession the entire time. Any good gig bag will provide the protection that you need. At least it's worked for me the past ten years.

Congrats again and play the heck out of it!

That's kind of what I figured. I've got a good gator pro go that came with my g.gould (almost on par with the CT if you like graphite). My luck for carryon flights is about 80/20, but with the Gould, I never stressed too much (thick finish and graphite). I might have to go Calton for piece of mind for air travel.
