Learn the song Drummer! Is this too much to ask?

I half agree with this. If the whole band is playing it differently than I'm fine with the drummer changing the groove. But, if everyone else is sticking to the original than the drummer should too. He's taking the easy road, knowing most people won't notice. I did the same thing in the cover...

    G&L Tribute L2000 sale

I just saw an ad linking to this while doing valentines shopping. $500 Tribute L2K? Great sounding bass for less than an MIM P!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend...

Jazz bass back pickup is thin and quiet

I think SGD Lutherie has the right answer here. I didn't realize the bass is still under warranty so when I took it to this repair guy in Lorton, VA, he seemed to think it was something of the sort. He said MIM basses have this problem a lot. So a new pickup was ordered right away. Thanks for...

Jazz bass back pickup is thin and quiet

I checked all the wiring and didn't seem to find anything abnormal by looking at it. Everything looks to be wired up how the schematics look and connections appear to be solid.

Jazz bass back pickup is thin and quiet

I was playing a fundraiser for my buddy's middle school that he teaches at and brought out one of my MIM jazz basses that I hadn't gigged with yet. I'm not much of a knob turner so everything on the bass is always full on. I realized that it sounded pretty different from what I thought I...

How low can I legitmately go..?

I think you should think about a lot of the bass players and how if at all you are hearing them in the mix in metal. If you consider Meshuggah down at F# or below, I'm very sure the bass is double the exact note the guitar is playing instead of playing an octave below and it just builds this...

Help - How do bands get that "Balanced" sound?

mambo4 is right. vocals needs to be the most important. But if you set up your amps and PA in somewhat of a semi circle facing the drums, you should be able to hear everything if you stand in the middle. That is unless you have to practice like you are playing a gig... then you need...

    "chrome" paint job?

and the satisfaction of being one of the only a**holes dumb enough to have a mirror finish bass way out weighs the frustration of polishing the bass every time I play it. And I guess its also somewhat of an 'investment.' Or at least I'll tell myself that. Half of being a memorable band is what...

    "chrome" paint job?

I would absolutely pay for someone else to do it. I was really hoping for suggestions of places that have done it successfully or people who have. My bad guys for not making that clearer, oops.

    "chrome" paint job?

Damn you Warwick and making the exact finish I want on a bass that I don't!! :bawl:

    "chrome" paint job?

The Warwick chrome finish is absolutely gorgeous and that is exactly what I am after. The RIM Custom is what I DON'T want. Not to take away from the bass, it is an excellent looking bass but the finish looks textured, not smooth.

    "chrome" paint job?

No worries. Any input of any kind from anyone is much appreciated.

    "chrome" paint job?

Curbowkid, that is exactly what I am looking for except the blue tint seems so cheesy to me! And there is no way I would even ask Warwick how much they would do it for. I guess I'm trying to go for the look of the Alumisonic J Special, but not Aluminum... though they do sound amazing!

    "chrome" paint job?

I hadn't, but it thats an idea. In all honesty I'm pretty clumsy with my hands when it comes to details. I know I could arrange the monokote so the seam would be on the back, but I really don't want to have a seam at all. Being unfamiliar with monokote I'm not sure if I could hide the seam. But...

    "chrome" paint job?

Has anyone done this and had it come out looking almost mirrored? I've seen some that look like they have an uneven surface underneath the paint job, almost like someone started trying to sand down a golf ball, but all over the bass. I'm very interested in doing a 'mirror' finish jazz bass but a...
