I actually have come across this question myself as I'm looking at maybe getting one but I do not like the pickups at all and want to switch 'em out but not sure if a 9v battery will fit in the cavity in the back or not. Anyone come across this??

I sold my black Steinberger XL2 years ago to go back to grad school. I should NEVER have sold it. It's worth more than double what I paid for it in the 80s. Regret is an understatement. That thing played amazing. EMGs sounded great. Action was fast; sustain was great; intonation was spot on.

So, I found these EMGs, that can make it an active bass (link below) but, does anyone know if the bass has room in the body/back for a battery??? (I notice a good sized back plastic plate/cover)...

I am looking at maybe getting an XP-2, I think has passive pups? I used to have an L2 years ago and really loved it. My reservation about the XP-2 is passive pickups not having enough punch, depth, or presence. Any thoughts on that?

usually play some Rush riffs.. Xanadu is a nice scale'ish riff.. I also like Vital Signs to test neck buzz. I also play a particular original that is fairly bass riff driven song and b/c it's a very familiar riff and feel to me
