Totally the bridge for me. It only matters for me with five strings. The closer spacing felt "crowded".
I figure most 4s are 19mm at the bridge but some might be smaller.
I see a lot of PJ configurations being used in rock. I had a yamaha with that kind of set up a long time ago, but that was before I had any understanding of bass pickups at all.
Seems like with a pick and some distortion, or just a bit of drive you can get the P thump with some additional growl...
So far I got a preamp to try out simply going direct to interface.
Got this inexpensive one:
So far in a short practice its working good. Wish It had a mids knob though.
I like something thats a bit more versatile, so I think maybe going back to rounds may suit me better. Despite me really like the flats. Which have only been on a month or less!
They have one really good sound. Which actually fits with almost any music. Doesnt really sound a lot like other...
I feel like its this balance of having the right level of tension/flexibility and also having a good sound.
Since I've been practicing a lot, I like to get a lot of hours in and if they bother my left (right doesn't seem to care...lol) I wont be able to play as long.
I dont seem to like lights...
So I've bought and tried a lot of different strings this year. Its getting a bit weird.
I still have all of these in a bag-string-storage area.
I dont really like the "high" tension of Daddario XL's and will always take em off. I have a bunch of these.
For my P bass I have now gone through...
So I did a little research, looks like my Spector is actually a Legend 5 not a performer 5. Guess that means its a little step up (and I got a better deal..)
Im wondering, since I'm unfamiliar. Whats the Spector "Sound"? What are they known for?
Now I want to get my hands on a Sadowsky and try it. If the profile is nice, I gotta try it! Im profile-fussy lol
A quick search round these parts seems like about 2K for one.
