Preamp vs AMP for speaker-less recording and practice

I just tried the Neural DSP Darkglass plugin and its a lot more pleasing to me than Bias so far.
It does have a bit of the digital feel, but the overall sound options are great.
I will continue the trial.

It seems to be this vs Ampeg scr vs the Aguilar tone hammer pedal. They are all very different flavours of sounds.

I also learned that I seem to like a bit of a mids push than a mid scoop. At least with these high beams I got going on the bass.

yes, that one looks so good. its expensive though. it seems like once you get that, your totally set for cabsims. The pricing is what keeps me from considering it. Maybe.....

Both the Cab M and OmniCabSIM seem highly regarded...neither are really cheap, but one definitely cost a bit less.

I have never tried either, but I thought you might be interested.

Cheers.

So far I got a preamp to try out simply going direct to interface.
Got this inexpensive one:

So far in a short practice its working good. Wish It had a mids knob though.

I was very happy with two products that I still use. First is the Darkglass microtubes B7k ultra v2. It really lets you dial in every aspect of your sound and is great for recording and or stand alone practice as it has an aux in. You mentioned you like the Ampeg SVT, well the second product I would mention is the PF 500. It is a remarkable amp in it's own right, and the recording I got out of it really set it apart from any amp i've ever worked with. It also has an aux in for stand alone practice. It does get close to the SVT sound. They did a really good job. Obviously, I am using these two products together, and it has led me to the sound i've always heard in my head. Just thinking the PF series of amps might be something to look into.

Cutting treble and bass essentially works similar to a mid boost (on every device), but it's especially effective on this preamp. Combine with little tweaks to Presence to find your mid. Disclaimer: I haven't used *this* preamp, but it's a Sansamp BDDIv1 clone if I remember correctly.

Im currently using Bias FX 2 in my Interface and PC for practicing and recording bass.

I'd like to get something that is solid-state that I can use instead. I would prefer a more analog feel. Id like to get great tone, that kind of has an amp flavor to it for my practice and direct recording.
I will be sending the output into my interface to listen to it.

Im planning on getting a Mooer Radar Cabsim pedal to use, so the Preamp unit doesnt have to have cabsim on it.

I dont have to have a speaker, Its really difficult for me to use a speaker, especially a bass one in my apartment. If anyone near me so much as hears me, they really might complain. So I decided that really, a preamp pedal and some kind of sim into my headphone rig would due just fine. I also dont take an amp with me when practicing at studios, I simply use the amp there (usually some kind of ampeg)

Im looking for a good all-round characteristic and nice "under the fingers" preamp that would last me a long while. Ive used the search engine and found some threads and its been a lot of reading, and Id like some up to date recommendations.

Or should I get an AMP instead and simply use the DI or headphone out?

Tones I like:
Ampeg SVT
GK

Im a fan of the L'Arc En Ciel bass tone, however testuya gets it. I also dont really need bass overdrive but having it would be a nice addition.

Any recommendations for me?
I use my Mesa d-800 for headphone jamming At home. I just plug in my headphones. Connect my phone into the aux in and go. I actually leave my cabs at the rehearsal spot. They only come home if I have a gig where it’s out of the wya to go get them and in that case I just put the cabs in the garage so they still don’t come inside the house.
