I bought an SKB44 case at GC that has the J-bass shape on the inside. My thumb fits nice and snug in it when its closed. You might check it out. SKB always does an awesome job with cases.

I believe all the basses in the Rockbass series are made in China with lesser quality parts. Causing the cheaper price.
