New bass build

Thanks all. well, definitely not finishing tonight. I forgot it was mothers day when I was planning so I'm several hours behind.

I've been sanding the body with micro mesh for the last 7 hours, and I'm only through 2400 grit. Should go quicker from here as it is starting to get a nice shine.

My goal is to get it sanded and buffed tonight, then shielding paint. I pressed the frets yesterday, and have to bevel and level.

Yes it is daunting. I've been busting my ass the last few days on the bass... several very late nights. All of what you mentioned can be lumped into, "adjust the nut height" But I am taking lots of pictures, and will take more, (and sound clips, and maybe a video).

I got myself a cnc kit last month and am now in the process of getting it all going.
Steep learning courve for sure, but it'll be worth it.

Just out of my curiosity, how much does a reasonable CNC kit cost?

Also, how do you design your 3d drawing or something like that?

To be fully setup, machine, software, router, extra misc stuff, you're looking somewhere between 4-5k. Of course that number can vary a lot depending on what you're actually getting.

After working with the machine I have for a while now, I wish I had spent a bit more on this one:

From my experience, this looks like a great machine for guitar/bass. The linear guides and ball screws make it a big step up from the machine I have. It was 3k at the time I bought mine. It's cheaper now, and I'd definitely do the Gecko upgrade he lists. I might be buying this one in the future

Oh, and here are a few new shots of the bass. I tested the electronics before stringing it up fully. And yes, I tested it with my fender twin since I don't own a bass amp

Got it setup last night. It plays nice.

I'll be recording audio and possibly shooting a video tonight.

Awesome build, great execution, it turned out beautiful. But... IMHO I don't think the head stock matches the body well, but then again I'm just some guy on the internet so what do I know...
