New bass build

It looks awesome. Have you tried wearing it yet? Hows neck dive?

It's balanced nicely actually. Right along the 20th fret. It weighs right around 6.8 pounds. pretty good over all.

Awesome build, great execution, it turned out beautiful. But... IMHO I don't think the head stock matches the body well, but then again I'm just some guy on the internet so what do I know...

Honestly, I agree with you on the headstock. I should have spent more time on it. Headstocks are just so difficult. I wanted something simple looking. I'll definitely be putting some more work into that for the next revision.

Some blue in the head stock would definitely go a long way, but even like that it's quite a looker. I'm really eager to see that vid, I wonna see how your idea about the sunk-in playing area worked out.

Here are a couple of videos I shot tonight on the ipad. I unfortunately wasn't able to record higher quality audio at the same time, so this is just what the ipad picked up. The bass sounded very nice in person. The EMG pj-x's seem good for funk, which is what I was going for. They're bright, yet you get a good amount of tone change from playing with the volumes and tone.

Luke said that the bass felt very comfortable. He commented that he liked the strings being closer to him as a result of the body being a bit thinner than other basses, coupled with the recessed center.

I can see how the "step down" playing area might give a better fingering position. That is some original thinking for sure.

Just a coincidence! Cholis is a more phonetic interpretation of my last name. Caribbean...that would be nice Luke Cho is a great guy and player. That was the first time he'd played bass in months. He's actually a guitarist.

I'm going to make some recordings right now before I deliver it to its owner. My playing will be much less impressive than Lukes.
