    Budget Bass Shootout!

I got the glarry in a pj config for $70. Getting it local used where I could check it out first really made it an easy choice. It did need a setup but was great with 10 min setup. My assumption was I'd get a used ibanez but not many low end ones around currently. When the glarry gets to 130 I...

    Glarry bass guitars

You can Ask her if she rather you had 3 pretty wives :) I just got the glarry ib with pj in natural. It's really a nice looking decent playing and sounding bass. I see them for about $130 with resellers with good reviews. I see what looks like the same bass without label for 80 online. When...

Re-evaluating amp watts I need at live shows

I have not played a good 50 w tube bass amp but I can picture it possibly working. And my rule of thumb I've found is it can take 200+ solid state watts to replace 50 tube watts.

Guitar Center (hardly even a shell of what it used to be)

It seems they think they can run on debt just like our fed government. Maybe they have a printing press somewhere?

Guitar Center (hardly even a shell of what it used to be)

I feel bad for gc. Everything demographically is going against them. The fall of retail. Baby boomer retirement. The fall of guitar driven rock. Short attention span kids raised on video games and rock band. All the people who love gear are full up. I sure am. And in retirement more will...

On Haggling. And what's your definition of "Lowballing"?

My wifes step father used to sell junk at the swapmeet. If someone offered him what it was actually worth he'd counter by raising the price. He never did much biz. He was a pick too, just like the guy the op ran into.

On Haggling. And what's your definition of "Lowballing"?

Recently I was selling a 412 acoustic cab for $200. Classic 70's box. Good guitar cab , great bass cab. I'd been trying to sell it on cl for months off and on. We agree to meet. He comes over, he tries it and likes it. Then he tells me he only brought $140. Says If that's not good...

What would YOU do to save Gibson?

Good start but of course you need to dig out the root, HenryJ. I've never played a LP or SG type bass but my guess is it would be very neck heavy. Maybe they should go after the bass market, embrace their heritage and do something high tech innovative all in 1. How about a lp or SG bass with...

Basses that used to be cheap and have now gone WAY up in price.

I have the more plain kawai. Its ash painted black with the carbon fiber neck. Everyone whos played it is in love with it. I got it in a big trade but I'm sure it was about $100 in value. Now I think its over $500 last I checked.

    So...Who Enjoys A Bass Solo?

Its funny that when someone refers to a guitar solo its almost always a guitar melody over a rhythm part of the song but a bass or drum solo is almost always completely unaccompanied. If we expected the same from the guitarist most of those solos would suck too. Hell we rarely expect the...

Essex (SX) Bass Club - Part 15

Yup, I have the Ltd II too. And The orange grew on me too. And I had a 5 str bass that also had the vibration that drove me crazy. I eventually sold it and never did figure out what caused it.

Essex (SX) Bass Club - Part 15

How do you know what models are alder or ash if the description is wrong? For me its a deal breaker with the wrong wood. The package lists the following components. Bass Guitar: Solid basswood body creates an authentic vintage sound Dual cutaway body provides access to the upper

Essex (SX) Bass Club - Part 15

Congrats hoss. Looking at that it seems there is no way it's basswood. Looks like very nice alder or even lesser grained ash. is it light like basswood? congrats
