Sadly, I'm having the same experience. Ordered early Jan. No response to emails. Called and spoke with Skip, who was very friendly and assured me tracking info that day, 2 weeks later, nothing. No answer via phone.

Looks like a great project! A Mustang or Jazzmaster bridge will work but limit setting the intonation. Most Bass VI bridges were quite a bit wider to account for proper intonation. That being said, I’ve seen plenty of Custom Shop VIs with the shorter bridge.

Big fan of the Bassman’s especially the 6G6 circuit from 61-64. Earlier this year found an original 63 that mostly needed proper cleaning. Goes quite well with the Bass VI. Today joined the 21st century with a mint used Bassman 800 to change things up.

Tubes may continue to get more expensive in general so reliability is your best bet. I have never had new production tubes go bad but I have had NOS stuff die - though more due to other problems in an amp than just the tube failing on its own.

All good comments above. I would say it also depends on how you use your gear. If touring and playing night after night, I would suggest current production tubes for the same reason many touring musicians prefer Boss pedals, if equipment breaks, it’s that much easier to replace / repair. I love...

Ah yes Impedance measurement on the OT should be around 1850ohms. So little info on these transformers out there.

Thanks to both of you for your continued advice. Luckily pre-amp doesn’t seem to be much of an issue. So it seems primary resistance on the OT should be closer to 1.8k. It seems the Heyboer replacements would be a good fit over the expense of a Mercury. Any experience with replacement OT?
