    Band Fatigue

I have band fatigue.. Am sick of schlepping my stuff half way across town, take time out of my working life, and occassionally deal with ungrateful musicians (not the current band I am in / was in) who only want to use you for their own means! Have ditched it all and am concentrating on other...

Back injury and possibly having to quit band

Thanks for your replies everyone. I'll play it by ear, but I am going to fix my back (hopefully it's fixable) and need to go to phys. therapy and exercise to strengthen core. It's a big wake-up call. Also, work in a physical job, so I have even more at stake by looking after my back.

Time frame for a band to improve?

Just remember, the music needs space to breathe, eg, not all instruments should be playing at once, all the time. And, secondly... the frequency spectrum... do not step on each other's frequencies. Eg, keys on same frequency as rhythm guitar does not seem necessary.

Back injury and possibly having to quit band

Lower back injury in lumbar area. Possibly a slipped disc. Sustained it while bending over on weekend, spent two days laying down in pain; am still nowhere near functional three days later (walking very slowly, everything takes three times as long). Osteo reported degenerative discs in lumbar...

    Your band Pet Peeves!

Omg, no wonder you've changed bands! At least they didn't "noodle".

Hilarious things your lead singer says two days before a huge gig...

"My car is out of petrol". "Somebody stole my mic".

    Your band Pet Peeves!

That's a pretty good list bassman! I think most of us could indentify with these. Self taught drummers, and drummers who don't come back on the 1 on time. I'm sure i've peeved a few people off in my time, but i'm completely open about my lack of ability (at times), and when i need to refine...

    Your band Pet Peeves!

Oh, this! Our guitarist does good (interesting solos), but, I understand the general affliction with some guitarists. Thank-goodness this sort of thing is now ancient history. Hopefully your new or upcoming band will recognise how awesome Motown is!

    Your band Pet Peeves!

Haha! I read these with a lot of amusement! Bad drummers, ugh! I am enjoying the band i am in too, but.. One of the most common themes mentioned was "noodling".. How do we get them to stop?

    Scheduling Auditions

Get them to sing 3-4 of your most difficult songs. Schedule auditions about 45 mins apart (if you have equipment, and no need for them to set up). That gives you time to recover and workshop between auditions. No need to tell them anything about other auditionees, or the auditions. "How are...

    Your band Pet Peeves!

This is not a hate thread about your band, it is more of a venting space anout things that really annoy you about your current band, or a band you were previously in. Hopefully, it will relieve some tension. My suggestion is to mention your pet peeve/s (yes, you can have more than one!), and...

If the bass and guitar are in sync, but the drums aren't...

How about if your drummer likes doing fancy fills and double and triplet kicks when it's not necessary? Frustrating!

Why is my sound so "muddy"?

We all probably need to loosen up a bit! I just listened to it again, it really is a dismal effort on my behalf. Will be recording my home practising from now on.
