Double Bass Are the Schnitzer articles on buying and working on DB lost to the world?

In the thread on newbies and buying a double bass there was reference to the following. I searched around to find the material as the links are no longer valid. Anyone know if they are available anywhere else? "Master luthier Arnold Schnitzer's excellent articles: What to look (out) for...

    Gold Tone MicroBass Talk

I wouldn't try wiring it to your existing preamp. I am not that impressed with the GT preamp sound anyways. I would undo the nut on the existing jack. pull it back, wrap it in foam so it doesn't rattle and install the K&K and use a good quality external preamp DI like the tonebone pz which is...

Double Bass Roth U660 Model? '60s upright bass

I was searching on the web for info and specs on what a Roth U660 model upright bass is. I found nothing. I might be reading the model number wrong from the photo. Any one familiar with this model?

You don't adjust pickup height by sight. You do it by sound. If the strings all sound even through the amp, you are done. If not, then you adjust the height of the pickup. Closer to the strings is louder. Too close and the magnetic field will disrupt the vibration of the string.

Fender Modern Player Short Scale Jazz Bass - PJ

After the whole debacle of the telecaster pic for the blonde short scale bass, I think we figured out that Musicians Friend, Music123 and and Woodwind and Brasswind are all fronts for Guitar Center.. They all had the same mix up at exactly the same time. :)

In increased range for intonation surprises me. I still don't understand it. I think I am going to get some garolite from McMaster and make one out of that. Supposed to be like Bakelite so it will probably look better than my experiment. It is .120 thick so just shy of 1/8"

Fender Modern Player Short Scale Jazz Bass - PJ

I am probably no where near as good a player as most on this forum but I think it is good enough to keep. It certainly seems like a solid starting point. I would love to see one or two more to determine if this one is just an aberration or not. No one else has commented on having to raise the...

LaBella is not very consistent about where they start the silk on the deep talking bass strings.
