Wow! So many responses! I've never had a bass beyond 21 frets, but I've always wondered if having more frets somehow lessens the need for more strings. Perhaps it's more personal preference than anything :P

Much agreed to Root 5 and hdracer! There seems to be quite a difference between the different types of flats. I just wondered if those differences bothered anyone.

Or in a different way, what flatwound strings would you avoid like the plague?
