How can you tell what guage strings are without the wrapping? Im goin to the ppawn shop next weekend to see what they've got there. I know there are ibanezes there at the very least they always have them.

I wouldn't be going below a drop c ^^ most of the songs would be in drop c when we play metal though. Would a 5ver make bass harder to learn than a four?

@CM63 do you think a squier neck would fit on an ibanez body?

Onto the topic at hand though. Take it from a guy who plays a lot of metal. Just about ANY bass will work. It's all in the EQ. What matters is what YOU like and how you want to sit in the mix. What's YOUR tone, or rather, the one you're after? Do you want to punch through the mix? Blend into it...

Im 17 an just started playing bass a couple weeks ago. I wanted to play bass because I really liked basslines like the opener in Animal I have become by three days grace.

So I ordered my first bass off guitar center used and they have had the order pending for 6 days! I ordered with paypal and according to their website its not subject to the 10 day hold. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it normal because I didnt use a credit card? If not I will call by the end...

The new clean vocalist in Of Mice and Men has one of these bad boys. It looks and sounds fantastic especially since I saw it used in a metal band major +1. When I saw it I knew I just had to have it. An a for AP=new bass :D.
