    Defective Ibanez Bridge

Not a bad idea. I like playing my friend's 505, but I miss the flat wounds on mine. My poor fingers! ***EDIT: I just heard back from L&M. The bridge will be covered if the serial number puts it within the date range.

    Defective Ibanez Bridge

That's pretty much where I'm at. I'll be following up with L&M later today since I was already in touch with them last week. There is a bridge on eBay, but with shipping and the dollar conversion, it's almost $100. Replacing it isn't a problem (and I could probably get it done faster than...

    Defective Ibanez Bridge

Hey All, I'm at a loss for where to go from here, so hopefully this is the right place to post this. The bridge on my Ibanez SR305 has failed and will no longer hold the D string in the same place as documented in the threads below. The bass was in the case for about 2 months and when I took...

    B string issues

I've been fighting this for years on my Ibanez SR305. I know the 305 is hardly a high-end bass, but I still expect the B to have some kind of life in it. After multiple sets of strings of various gauges from various manufacturers and adjusting the pickup height, I'm convinced the issue is...

Sterling by Music Man SUB Ray4 and Ray5, Part 2

Going the other way actually. From the surface of the fretboard to the back of the neck. In the illustration below pulled from the specs for my Ibanez, it would be measurements C and D.

Sterling by Music Man SUB Ray4 and Ray5, Part 2

Hi All, I think I've fallen for the Mint Green version of the SUB Ray5 (beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all, although I wish the pickup was white but oh well), but I'd like to know how thick the neck is. At 62mm, it should be on part with my current Ibanez SR305 (which I absolutely...

    Ibanez SR305 Direct Bridge Replacement

I've tried many, many different strings (The Quest for the Perfect B!), and each time I've made sure that the ball end didn't fetch up during stringing. Sadly, each time the string has sounded pretty terrible, so I've moved on from thinking it was the strings (although it could still be a...

    TWISTED NECK!!

If that's roughly what yours looks like, it's a fine looking bass. I hate to say it, but a twisted neck could be impossible to fix. A friend of mine has been fighting with a twisted neck on an Ibanez bass for over a year and he's still no closer. Having no experience with straightening necks...

    Ibanez SR305 Direct Bridge Replacement

I don't -see- that it's bending, but I'm curious to know if mine does fall into the group that gets a replacement. If not, then yes, I'd be looking around for a new one to see if I can fix the sad sounding B. The Gotoh 404BO seems like it might fit the bill.

    Ibanez SR305 Direct Bridge Replacement

Hey Folks, Over in the string section I've been posting about a dead sounding B string with almost no sustain, and after trying loads of different strings of varying materials and gauges, along with various pickup and saddle height adjustments, I've been toying with the idea of swapping out the...

The Quest for the Perfect B!

After many recommendation and some glowing reviews, I bit the bullet and ordered some DR Lo-Rider nickles (45-130), so we'll see how they go. I have high hopes, but after trying as many strings as I have lately, I'm trying to temper my expectations.

The Quest for the Perfect B!

    A) I've put the saddle all the way up, which made it pretty rough to play, but didn't change the tone of the string. B) That's a possibility, with the only option being a string tree. C) I did consider the possibility of dead spots, but didn't research how to go about finding and fixing them...

Can't set B on 55-02 to correct intontation

I have the same problem when I restring my SR305 with EB Cobalt Flats - the silk makes the string thicker and the B string barely fits through the bridge. To get around this I drop the action as low as possible and put the saddle as far towards the pickups as it will go. This allows for the...

Fly your Metal Flake Freak Flag!

Posted these in the show off your bass thread a day or so ago, but I'll put 'em here as well. I've always dug the look of that Mikey Way bass earlier on in the thread. Bigger flakes, but it still looks fantastic.

The Quest for the Perfect B!

That's something that I haven't tried, but plan to very soon, Klokker. I'm hoping I can nab a .132 tapered B in the Chromes from Amazon before they're gone since I'd like to stay with flatwounds if I can. Otherwise I need to pay and arm and a leg just for a single string at my local shop...
