Defective Ibanez Bridge

Hey All,

I'm at a loss for where to go from here, so hopefully this is the right place to post this.

The bridge on my Ibanez SR305 has failed and will no longer hold the D string in the same place as documented in the threads below. The bass was in the case for about 2 months and when I took it out, the string was floppin' about.

Replacing an Ibanez SR305 Bridge

Ibanez SR305 bridge BROKE help!!!

I've sent a few emails to Ibanez (atcustomerservice.at.hoshinousa.com), but haven't heard anything back. There have been no replies to my tweets to the Ibanez Twitter account either, although I figured that would be a long shot.

At one point there was an Ibanez contact here on the forums, but this was years ago. I'm wondering if there's still a rep around that I could speak to. When I discovered the bridge could possibly be bad years ago, I emailed the same hoshinousa.com address and didn't receive a reply then either.

I understand that this bass is older and it may not be something that Ibanez would cover, but I figure it's worth a shot.

These are a known issue with Ibanez and have been for a while. Unfortunately the Canadian distributor doesn't stock replacement parts - they prefer to order them as needed as they don't want to outlay the cash to stock them. This makes for a months long wait as they wait to fill a skid in Asia.
I would contact Long & McQuade as they are the Canadian dealer and have dealt with Efkay Music - who distribute the brand - with this particular issue many times. This is likely your only solution without trying E-Bay or Amazon. If an L&M has a bridge somewhere in a store they'll transfer it out east to you or you might be lucky if Efkay has stock.
This repair is usually free (you might pay a small labour charge) as the issue is well known and lots of bridges have been replaced already. You might just have to wait......:meh:

That's pretty much where I'm at.

I'll be following up with L&M later today since I was already in touch with them last week.

There is a bridge on eBay, but with shipping and the dollar conversion, it's almost $100. Replacing it isn't a problem (and I could probably get it done faster than L&M), but if I can get it covered, sweet.
