Looking for the fEarful 1212/6 plans...

. Excellent choice in cabinet. I've made four different fEARful bass cabinets (including a 1515/66/1) and the 1212/6/1 is my favourite. It's the only one I have kept.

Help me out here guys, who was it that used to sell Rickenbacker pickups and stuff?

. Thanks guys. Yeah, that kind of sounds familiar. Who was the guy who ran it? Do you remember?

Help me out here guys, who was it that used to sell Rickenbacker pickups and stuff?

. Hi guys, Sorry to be so vague. There's probably several different ones, but here goes.... I'm trying to recall who it was who used to specialize in Rickenbacker parts about 10 years ago in the US (not Rickenbacker the company). I bought pickups for my 4001 from them. They had all sorts of...

Removing rat fur changes cab tone?

. The only change to sound it will make is when you put your beer on top of it at a gig. It'll be less muffled as the bottle contacts the cab.

Battle of the Lead Sleds or just get a class D

. I used to absolutely love my all tube Fender Superbassman. It weighed a ton and sounded awesome at home. I found that I really couldn't tell all that much difference between it and the Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12.0 I also owned, in a loud band context, during rehearsals. When I had to cut back to...

    Is a 212 the best one-size-fits-most cab?

. After building four different fEARful cabinets, including the monster 1515/66/1, I ended up settling on the 1212/6/1. (2 x 12" drivers, with a 6" and tweeter) It's the only one I still have. I reckon it gives the best bang for the buck/size.

Great bands that you really liked, but forgot about for at least a couple of decades

. I have, over the past few weeks, re-discovered Talking Heads. I've been playing the vinyl albums of theirs back in the 80s and loving them once again.

Where in the effects chain should I put the high pass filter?

. I have it it at the beginning of the chain. Why process all those super low frequencies through the pedals when you're going to filter them all out at the end anyway? Process the frequencies that you want in your sound, not the ones you don't want!

Have you ever boiled your bass strings?

I just run a good, hot bath and throw the whole bass in. Cleans everything that way.

Okay, let's be honest, is there a bass that you always have lusted after?

    . A blonde Rickenbacker 4005 for me! http://www.justguitars.com.au/vintage-guitars-for-sale-classic-collectable/000451/828-02-rickenbacker-405-bas-1979-seventies-sixties-original-case.jpg

    Zoom MS-100BT pedal for bass

. I haven't played much bass at all for a couple of years now, but I seem to recall being impressed by its versatility, mainly the fact that you can pick and choose the effects and amp simulations stored within it using Stompshare. Around then I was doing a bit of home recording, so I'd install...

How do I UN-watch a thread I have been watching?

. Thank you!! I've never noticed that. (Now I feel dumb!) Cheers, Greg
