    MESA 400 REPLACEMENT TUBES

Dunno for sure about how the channels are voiced on a 400. I haven't tried a 400 myself.

    MESA 400 REPLACEMENT TUBES

Volume 1 and 2 are pre volumes.. but I wouldn't try and run it like an SVT. The 400+ doesn't sound that great overdriven. The case isn't as big as it looks - a 400+ with sus4 case weighs about the same as an old SVT without a case.

    MESA 400 REPLACEMENT TUBES

I had a mesa 400+ in the same case- great piece of kit. The 400 takes 6 x 6550s and the 400+ has 12 x 6L6s. I don't think you can interchange these types across the different amp models.

    Trace Elliot VA350

I've had this amp for 16 years or so- the first tube amp Trace produced. Anyone know if it's worth anything (it's marked 000001 on the chassis)?

    Biasing . . .

you need a sine wave (1 khz ?) from a sig gen to balance an svt. (a software one might be ok)

    Biasing . . .

yeah. I was going to just wire up 4 x 100w 1R thick-film resistors in series on a heatsink. RS components in the UK .. whatever the equivalent in the States

    Biasing . . .

it might be a bit loud! for calibrating the phase-splitter balance, 25v or so on the output is specified

    Biasing . . .

Make yourself up a dummy load that can dissipate 300w. Anyone know if wirewounds ar ok for this (meant to be purely resistive, but is the inductance of these negligible or not?). Thick-films are pretty expensive here.

Did you notice ? TRACE ELLIOT IS BACK !

thanks, I'll give them a shout..

Did you notice ? TRACE ELLIOT IS BACK !

wonder if they do parts for older Trace stuff. I need 2 switches for the graphic on the GP11 part of my VA350.

    Combining channels on Vintage SVT

the difference with those amps (wrt vintage) are the 12AX7s as opposed to 12DW7s - you're thinking of the SVP-CL pre though I think.. heh. running both channels just involves running a patch lead from one input (the free one) on one channel, to the other channel input. It sounded pretty good...

    SVT feedback

thanks guys. It sounds a lot more high-pitched than regular feedback, and I 'm getting it on both bass and treble controls.. more so on the treble. Both channels are affected too (channel 1 more so).

    SVT feedback

I lent my 87 SVT + 8x10 to someone. Ever since, I now get crazy feedback when I turn either the bass or treble knobs more than 3/4 of the way up. Anyone got any ideas what could be up with it? (I live pretty far from any decent tech, so I thought I'd ask here first). I've tried different...

    New Amp for Nickthebassist.

new they're about 1500 pounds, plus sus-4 shockmount case is 300-400 quid new on top of that, so that's 1900 quid of amp new. I'm ideally looking for 1000 ukp for mine including the sus4 rack case. I might go down to 900.
