I’ve always positioned to the left of the drummer as it’s nearer his snare and high hat. Easier to see and communicate if needed. I know the drummer prefers it that way as well. In smaller venues, I also angle my amp towards him a bit as an extra monitor.

I respectfully disagree. I have never played a Squire that could hold a candle to an American made Fender. But that’s what makes life interesting.

It all depends on what you’re playing. No right answer. I play my 5 a lot, but I still love the 4. For some tunes, I prefer a 4 with drop D. It’s nicer to hammer an open low D on a 4 than hit the same D on a 5.

I always bring a backup to gigs. I’ve never had to use it, but it’s insurance. If you like being in the band, bring a backup. If you’re looking for an excuse to leave these bands, that’s ok too. Seems the consensus from other comments is to bring the backup.

I've been playing a 5 string almost exclusively since picking it up. I wouldn't say a 4 string is obsolete at all. It depends on what you're playing. I particularly find I like hammering away at a drop-D open string that hitting the fretted note on the low B. It's personal preference ultimately.

I agree with LeonD. That seems a bit high. If the bass is near mint, it might be worth it. I bought a passive P5 at the end of July. It's insane. Seriously, killer. You won't be disappointed.

I agree that the Alpha Omega does a better job overall.

I’ve used the Ashdown Nate Mendel double distortion pedal for a few years. Sounds great. I’ve also used and like the Darkglass Alpha Omega. Great as well.
