    Mesa/Boogie Subway D-800 + cabinet simulator

Hi Everyone, I have one of these Mesa bass heads. The manual says the DI/XLR out has a cabinet simulator. What cab is it simulating? Thanks for any information you may have. pete

    New vinyl is crazy expensive...

I know my band made a vinyl run of 100 for our last album. Cost to us was around 12 dollars an album. Since merch makes up a big portion of a full time musician's income, 30 is probably a good number. We aren't playing music for a living so we sell ours for 25. Went to a Will Hoge concert...

Weak output on 97 Squier P-bass

Hi Everyone, I picked up this Squier P-bass, which I think is a 97 model, has a Serial Number that starts with NC7. It has a really low, thin output. I know the jack is a little wonky, it cuts out if you move the cable. But it is probably a third of the volume it should be. The tone know also...

Eric Church cancels a sold-out show because he got Final Four tickets.

Maybe the crowd dodged a bullet. Watch Eric Church singing with Lizzy Hale and tell me which show you would want to see. Heh heh!

    Compressor advice

Used Carl Martin Classic Opto-Compressor V2. Was highly rated a few years ago by the guy that did a huge review/comparison on compressors.

    Sansamp DI-2112- 2 questions

That is how I use mine, just going into my amp. I have the BDDI for some songs, and use the Darkglass B7K for others. When I record, I mic my cab, and taking a second input using the DI out of my Mesa head. Probably not using them the way they are intended. :)

    Sansamp DI-2112- 2 questions

That is very true. :) I know I am not rack worthy myself. It just seems weird that it looks like a pedal, but you can't bypass it. I don't know too many guitarists/bassists that use just one pedal. I know I have to go from rockers to slow blues songs and that wouldn't necessarily work with...

    Sansamp DI-2112- 2 questions

It actually might be better. I have one of Sansamp's original DI's. I liked the fact that you could shift the mids on the DI-2112, changing the frequency that you are trying to tame. That is the one thing lacking on the original Sansamp DI, no mid control, just bass and treble. I know they...

    Sansamp DI-2112- 2 questions

Yea, you would need to use something like an LS-2. What I don't understand is they made the YYZ in "pedal" form with a switch. This is also in "pedal" form, but no switch. I can understand the rack mount always being on, but why even bother with a pedal like format with this if it can't act...

    Sansamp DI-2112- 2 questions

Thanks for the info. I noticed this in the manual about the tuner output: TUNER 1/4” OUT: As long as the unit is plugged in, the tuner output provides a constant, unaffected signal at all times, regardless of the position of the Level controls or the status of the Mute switch. This output can...

    Sansamp DI-2112- 2 questions

Hi Everyone, I am looking at the Sansamp DI-2112, and had 2 questions. 1. I know there is a switch to combine the two different channels, what output do you need to use for the combined sound once you flip that internal switch? 2. It is on all the time. How would you bypass that to use...

Which Strings Are You Picking Out of my Choices and Why?

Slinkys do seem to go dead fast. GHS Pressurewound are really good strings. Little smoother than the Boomers. Easier on your fingers.

Do you also try to get your kids into music (with success)?

Neither of my kids showed a huge interest in music. My son took guitar lessons for a little over a year, but the interest waned. He does loves to draw in photoshop. He is very good with it. I think the bottom line is to help your kids find the creative outlet they enjoy. Whether it is...
