What is the opposite of Ampeg?

Hi, so what says the wisdom of TB? If you have the Ampeg flavour settled, what is "the other" thing you should have? Something rather different but still kind of classic? The old Stratocaster-Les Paul kind of question... I guess something clean and polished? Genzler? Glocknerklang?

    Ampeg PF-50t - loud cab

I apologise for a possibly stupid question. As I guitarist, I seldom face the problem of not being loud enough. Given the nature of the instrument, quite the opposite is the truth and I happily run my 35W into just about any box and it works. Now I need to get that sweet Ampeg PF50 working...

Got a HUGE compliment from Steve Morse last night !!

Morse is god. Seen him with the Purple 20+ times. I was always over the moon that I get to see my most beloved band AND I get to see Steve Morse on top of that. Almost like a double feature.

    Turning down a band politely

I try to give as little reason as possible. Most intelligent folk understand the dance and that what you are saying is just you being polite. Some are thick, though, and understand anything positive you say (the music is nice, I like the playing, the song 3 was catchy) as an encouragement and a...

Guitarist TEACHING bass - oh no! (Tips+Tricks)

Indeed. I think I avoided that mistake. Frankly, even on a guitar my thumb goes behind neck from the D string on, so on the bass that would only mean servicing the thin G with the shovel grip which is not worth it anyway.

Guitarist TEACHING bass - oh no! (Tips+Tricks)

Very helpful as these are the two things I am most confused about. I am a full grip, slanted hand, hanging thumb over the fretboard player (as most electric guitarists are for a good reason) and I could not help but notice that you guys do not seem to be playing that way, typically, with thumb...

Guitarist TEACHING bass - oh no! (Tips+Tricks)

We grooving' :) I mean, we play Ramones at half speed but I reckon those steady 8th's is exactly what a beginner needs. No need to get all fancy and sloppy. Cheers for the course suggestion. I will check it out. Having said that, online courses never really worked for me, they seem to be...

Rumors of 2024 Release of New Bass Amps?

Well... since it's coming from the horse's mouth... :)

Rumors of 2024 Release of New Bass Amps?

This seems to have been a running rumour for quite some time now. I am not holding my breath.

    What would you do?

I may be wrong but from the description given I seem to have gathered that the issue is with a coating buildup in the hole drilled in the pedals enclosure so the power source’s jack cannot pass through and reach the socket mounted inside the pedal… Would be my guess. As for the topic itself, a...

Guitarist TEACHING bass - oh no! (Tips+Tricks)

Cheers. We practice reading a lot. I found that bass is way more reading friendly than guitar since it typically plays individual notes. Also it is something I know I am getting right :)

Guitarist TEACHING bass - oh no! (Tips+Tricks)

Hello, this is my first post here so please bear with me. I am rather active on TGP but since I have a specific bass problem I thought I might as well appeal to the highest authority. I am sorry for a longish story: So my girlfriend finds herself in a predicament. She got badly hurt, is...
