It might not sound so intuitive, but transistors waste a lot less power when they are totally on or totally off than they do when they are partially on. So the class d amps run the transistors all the way on directly to all the way off and directly back to all the way on, etc. This is...

I really like my B100R - although I think for $480, you could probably find something else and get a VT Bass pedal.

So, if I like the sound of my B100-R, would I like the BA300 115, too? I have been too lazy to try the BA300 out, but the fact that it's 3x more powerful than my B100R and ~5lbs lighter does sorta get my interest. On-board compressor seems cool, too.

I bought my B100R nicely (meaning, you know, "heavily") used from my local shop. So my "upgrade" was to clean the snot out of it :hiding: I have been thinking about some casters for it, but I'm still on the fence. I have a 2 year old, and it it's on casters, he'll probably push the thing...

Don't worry, it will get heavier as the newness wears off :p It is "manageable", but I play out a couple times a month, and lugging this thing around is not something I look forward to.

Thanks! How did you mount them? Do they fit in the existing sockets? Or did you pull those sockets out and put the casters in?

Hmmm. Thinking about it, I only play in church. I think the 30 watts will cover me (especially given that it's a tube power amp), but I'm not totally sure if I'm supposed to cart something into the sanctuary with "Bastard" written on it ;) Maybe I'll have to get a red sharpie and a razor...

I'd suggest a combination of the above advice - save your money to try to increase your budget, while shopping around. I bought a slightly ugly, dirty, but all-the-parts-were-there, great sounding Ampeg B100R for less than $250 at my local music store :D So save your bucks, shop like nuts...

Man, that'd probably be a good price for a 1001rb that had been on fire - let alone for one that actually works :bassist:
