Really wants an Ampeg B100R, but none are local...

Nobody local is selling a B100R, and i think they are out of production so the stores wont have them. The only one i found is on ebay and it's 480 USD. So I either have to:
-Shell out the cash and get what i really want
-Find another website selling one at a different price
-Find another amp that will do the job.

Would 480 be too much for you folks?

It would be for me. I owned one for awhile. It was OK, and
I appreciate that there are many fans of them here. With
all the great stuff out there to choose from, I'd be
hard pressed to spend a premium price for one. Blue tolex,
100w, and a retro look only go so far IMHO.

All caveats apply: the OP asked for opinions, this is my
opinion based on personal experience. Your mileage may
vary. No disrespect meant for your personal amp; if you
love your B100 above all else I am very happy for you,
etc, etc, etc; go in peace.

I've got a SLM (US) made B100R and I really like it. Aesthetics aren't the only valuble thing. There IS a tonal difference with the B100R compared to similar priced/sized combos. In fact if I KNEW I could get the tone out of a 500+ watt head that I get from the B100R, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Having said that, $480 is steep, BUT I believe the more these things age, the more they'll be sought after.;)

$480 new is a good price. I got one used at a local store for $250. It is a great combo and worth the money.

Now that they are out of production, prices may go up, even for used one. If you want a B100R, get it. If you want any old combo, hold out for something cheaper.
