Investment: Go for the 70s Player: 2010 Funny ... this vintage-boom. The late seventies are not well known for high quality standards concerning Fender Insruments.

Not knowing anything about bass guitars, i bought an american P when I changed the frontiers after 25 years of drumming. Never needed to go back...that thing is still # one while other basses come and go.

My Sandberg works perfekt with a P/MM setup (active EQ). You'll have to match the output of the P (around 11 to 12 KOhm)...otherwise it will clearly dominate the bridge pickup.

I had that with my Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass. Prior to the first rehearsals it was just a pretty good bass guitar. Now the guys go like "yipiiieee" when this thing comes out of the gig bag.

Two fav's at the moment: 1: Sprizz (Two parts of Aperol, three parts of prosecco, ice...light summer sip...not too much alcohol) 2: Caipirinha (Three parts Cachaca, brown sugar, lime, crushed ice...more dangerous...not really light) Usually, I'm more into drinking german beer and scottish...

I play it with both PU's 100% because that's - for me - the Jazz Bass. The settings of the tone knob may vary a little. If you like the tone with the bridge PU rolled off...you probably should think about a Precision...:D

No matter, what overdrive you'll be ending up with: Check 'em with the Band. That's the only way to figure out. The best overdrive works with YOUR fingers, YOUR stuff and YOUR band. My fingers, my stuff and my band(s) are requiring a Tech21 PBDDI. That thing can easily be pure nonsense for...
