The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

That's quite a list! I was expecting your notation to be based on the Nashville numbering system.

Chow Down! Chowny & Retrovibe Bass Club!

This is about 2 years old, so not the newest. As was pointed out it is unlined and the dots are where the frets would be. I bought my SWB-1 fretted and after playing it for a year decided to try a fretless neck so I ordered one from Stephen. Absolutely love it!

Huge marks for efficient use of resources. Nothing pretty about the battery though ;)

New string day for Blue Note... nice sound, & look! D'Addario flatwound chromes.

Blue on sapphire blue :) . Does she / he / them have a name? You get #1 in the CHB-1 Sapphire Blue Burst club, I'll take #2. I've been thinking about putting flat wounds on Blue Note but am still enjoying the original strings.

I love playing them both. Completely different instruments. Blue Note is my blues and rock go-to while Les Brown gets picked up when I'm playing faster or softer. The narrow (& fretless) neck is really nice & the tape-wounds give a great tone.

The Official Medium Scale Bass Club

The SWB-1 came fretted and I ended up talking with Stephen Chown a year later about the cost of getting the frettless neck. Turns out he had one in stock, the price was good, and he happened to have a CHB-1 b-stock so I got that as I knew it would take my luthier a few weeks to swap necks and...

Actually, no. With the set-up I have it hangs horizontally. That's due, in part, to the strap I'm using as the bare leather provides a little "anti-slip". The CHB-1 dives a little more.

Are medium scale club #s still being handed out? My Chowny SWB-1 is 30.75" so I call it short, the Chowny CHB-1 semi-hollow body is 31" so I guess it's a fit :)

I was asking about carrying cases for a PJB Double Four... here's a summary of what I learned. Battery powering a Phil Jones Double Four

Battery powering a Phil Jones Double Four

I prompted some discussion comparing a couple of bags to carry my PJB D4. I ordered the two being discussed and can give you a first hand comparison. And a recommendation... Get the PJB bag. The photos will give you an idea of fit and quality. Hands down the PJB Cub bag I got is far superior...

Love the trailer setup! And the PJB of course. How big is it, how is it powered, how are audiences arranged?

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

My setup is powered by a PJB Double Four. I use it with my active & passive Chowny as well as my travel Kala. Powered by 19V DC, no internal battery so a separate pack.

Battery powering a Phil Jones Double Four

To be honest, I have only used it plugged in for a few minutes when it first arrived. All the rest of my playing has been DC :)
