No. It has conductive shielding paint and I haven't tried copper shielding tape. Not sure if would make any difference or not.

One of my originals.

The L-2000 has a ringing (microphonic) sound in the bridge pickup. I am going to apply some foam in the middle of the adjustment springs to hopefully solve it.

Very good links. I never use the Rumble overdrive section. It's complete shite.

DI on left channel, Cab mic on right channel? Hard pan both or keep near center for best tone?

I still like the Rumble 200 (1x15) combo I have. However, I think the Rumble's are overrated. Ampeg seems to make better designed ported cabs that focus the low end better than the blubbery, lack of focus low-end Rumble"s have past 11 o'clock on the bass knob.

Seems to have better clarity and punch than the Rumble twice it's size. The ampeg gets plenty loud in a bedroom.

I purchased a used Ampeg BA-108 for $70 today. Sounds better than the Rumble.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the reasons for company's to have a distinct sound, but these two are polar opposites that barely cross paths at any point at any settings combinations. My guess is it might be more about the cabinet/speaker design than the amp. I've built a few tube guitar...
