Vintage SVT trips gfci outlet. Should I be worried?

Ok guys you’re right about the bad advice I offered about braking the ground off but I would absolutely try the amp with a normal outlet.

I think I just royally messed up..

Make sure you get some tape on the inner wires to make sure they can’t contact the outer ones

Vintage SVT trips gfci outlet. Should I be worried?

Gfci are extremely sensitive. The fact that there’s a added three prong cord is a huge clue as to was causing the trip. Is it possible you cause more damage plugging it in a regular outlet, yes I guess but the amp has fuses in it to protect itself if there’s truly an internal fault. As far as...

Tower of Power Tiny Desk Concert: the new bassist

I love Rocco’s playing he is definitely one of my biggest influences. I met him briefly in the mid nineties. After a show me and a friend of mine (who was newly a part owner of a local club that had history) waited in back of the venue to invite the guys to the club for after hour drinks and...

Vintage SVT trips gfci outlet. Should I be worried?

Gfci are designed to protect people. Is the chassis energized? If not your good if it is maybe you’re dead.

Vintage SVT trips gfci outlet. Should I be worried?

What he said.( Agedhorse) More simply all the current coming in the hot leg needs to be coming back on the neutral leg or the gfi trips . They are very sensitive to imbalance. IMO the added three prong jack is definitely suspect. If ground and neutral are tied together in the amp it’s going to...

Vintage SVT trips gfci outlet. Should I be worried?

If you’ve got an ohm meter check ohms between the ground prong on the plug and the wider blade. There should not be continuity. The ground prong should jut go to the chassis and should be isolated from the neutral. If it’s not that’s why the gfi is tripping. The original design may have them...

    The room is everything

As the OP I’d just like to defend myself a little about all the “my sound” stuff. I’m not going for some crazy sculpted sound. I run pretty much flat. I was just talking about trying to get back to that reasonably flat sound in a difficult room. I have also worked as a sound engineer a lot in...

Drum beat and rthythm app by Ninebuzz

I have not used that but I recently got Drumgenius. I payed for the full pack all the beats$8 i think. The beats sound great every one is referenced to an actual tune and drummer the developer must have spent a lot of time programming them. It sounds more like a real drummer than a machine...

My FBB #50 made by Matt Schmill. It was my main bass for a long time and if I’m honest might still sound better than anything I’ve got.
